Banking Infrastructure Modernisation on Google Cloud Platform
Financial Services
What They Were Facing
FinCore's on-premises data centres were nearing end-of-life, with hardware refresh costs estimated at $14M. The legacy infrastructure could not support the bank's digital banking initiatives, and scaling for peak transaction periods required 6-month lead times for hardware procurement. Regulatory requirements for SOC2 and PCI compliance added complexity to any migration strategy.

How We Solved It
AQBEE executed a phased migration of FinCore's core banking infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform, deploying applications on Google Kubernetes Engine for container orchestration and auto-scaling. Cloud SQL replaced legacy database servers with automated backups, failover, and read replicas. Cloud Armor was implemented for DDoS protection and WAF capabilities, while Anthos provided a management plane for the hybrid workloads that remained on-premises during the transition. All infrastructure was provisioned via Terraform with Cloud IAM policies enforcing least-privilege access. The migration was completed with zero customer-facing downtime across three phases over 9 months.
The Impact
Annual infrastructure costs reduced by 60% compared to the on-premises hardware refresh, saving $8.4M per year through cloud-native scaling.
Achieved 99.99% availability with GKE auto-scaling, multi-zone deployments, and automated failover — exceeding the bank's 99.95% SLA requirement.
Maintained full SOC2 Type II and PCI DSS Level 1 compliance throughout the migration, passing all regulatory audits without findings.
“Migrating a bank to the cloud is not a decision we took lightly. AQBEE's phased approach gave us confidence at every step — we never had to choose between innovation and compliance. The 60% cost reduction was compelling, but what really matters is that our digital banking platform now scales in seconds instead of months.”
